Quieter versions of stock music on hold MP3s.
Gain adjusted by -4db (softer volume).
Here are three common stock files I've pre-adjusted moderately quieter:
01_Pacific_Coast_Highway_quiet-4db.mp3
02_Backroads_quiet-4db.mp3
fpm-calm-river_quiet-4db.mp3
Q: Can the music on hold volume be adjusted (through the web admin panel)?
A: It used to be on CP4 that you could do that. The newer MP3 player component included with Asterisk 1.6 does not support this adjustment any longer, so unfortunately you cannot through the Web Admin Panel.
I always resort to transcoding/adjusting the MP3 volume in a third-party program such as the free Audacity sound editor (under the Effects: Amplify menu). Please refer to How to edit mp3 files with Audacity. Note: Support will not be able to assist with any Audacity questions.
If you just want the stock MP3 files but quieter, try the files attached to this article.
