Many of our past students have suggested the addition of reading materials about Linux and Asterisk in advance of the class in order to set the proper expectation for class. Please brush up on any areas that you consider yourself technically weak in to make FtOCC that much easier!

We will use everything you learn from the links above during FtOCC. Please pay special attention to the basic Linux commands link and the video tutorials.

We will not install a trixbox Pro system during class. Previous students have requested we add a full installation to our class. We have consciously chosen not to include this because installing trixbox Pro is so easy anyone can do it. Please download and install trixbox Pro Standard Edition in advance. You can use just about any hardware you want for this test system. Fonality maintains a list of recommended hardware for production deployments, but feel free to ignore these recommendations as you are only testing the installation and initial setup for academic purposes.

Please download the trixbox Pro Cheatsheet attachment below (tbcheat-1.pdf ) and keep a copy with you at all times (both during the class and out in the field).

This document should provide helpful commands that save you from lenghty memorization.

Pre-Class Skills Assessment

To access our online quiz, please perform the following:

Navigate to http://cbt.fonality.com
Create a new account using the same email address you used to register for FtOCC
Select the course "FtOCC Tech Training Prep Course"
The enrollment key is 'ftocc' (case sensitive)
Once enrolled, please select the "FtOCC Skills Assessment Quiz" from the "Weekly Outline" menu
You may only attempt the quiz once.

As instructors, we would like you to have an idea of which topics you should continue to review prior to the class in order to best prepare for the content we will present next week.

You must complete the pre-class skills assessment prior to joining FtOCC. Your grade has no bearing on FtOCC Certification. We want you to get as much out of our class as possible, and this quiz will help lay the foundation of our subject matter.
